The humble Cornish pasty makes the news

Friday, 18th August 2006

Phot: Atlantic FM

Atlantic FM, Cornwall’s newest radio station (Ed: and in our unbiased opinion the best) has been covering The Pasty.com its regular news bulletins.

As the station points out, we have had a steady flow of orders from around the world since we launched on Monday. In fact, we took our first order after less than half-an-hour - four saffron cakes to Minneapolis, in the United States.

Since then we’ve had orders from around the UK and as far away as Brisbane, Australia.

The Pasty was also show-cased as the very first “Shop of the moment” by Shopify, the company who provide The Pasty’s online shop technology.

Cornish pasty website opens for business

A new website selling Cornish pasties officially launched today (Monday 14th August 2006).

The Pasty.com will sell Cornish pasties, saffron cakes, hampers and other Cornish produce.

All the pasties, cakes and hampers will be provided by Warrens Bakery, one of Cornwall’s leading pasty makers.

Site owner Richard Quick said: “We chose to work with Warrens for one very simple reason. They’re our favourite pasties. It wouldn’t have seemed right selling anything else, they’re the pasties I used to eat at lunchtime when I was at school.”

As well as Cornish produce, The Pasty is aiming to provide information about Cornwall like local news, tourist guides and history.

“We’ve got some exciting developments lined up in the next few months,” said Mr Quick, “We’re going to be launching an online magazine about Cornwall and a guide to Cornwall for visitors. We want The Pasty.com to be the place to go if you want to find out about Cornwall or buy Cornish produce. We’re also planning a directory of Cornish photos and a few other features are in the pipeline.”

The Pasty is powered by Shopify, a new Web 2.0 ecommerce application from Canadian company Jaded Pixel.
